Testing & Commissioning

Full testing, commissioning and verification services, including PUWER assessment and CE marking.

Testing, commissioning and verification forms part of the turnkey package we offer our clients.

Before we hand over the keys to your facility, we’ll ensure equipment has been safely installed, thoroughly checked and is working as it should be in accordance with Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) via a PUWER assessment.

Our specialist team also offer CE marking services, ensuring you are complying with your legal requirements for the health and safety of your workforce as a manufacturer.

Testing and commissioning

We’ll carry out static testing and dynamic testing to check the quality and workmanship of the installation and confirm the system is operating as expected based on the original design specification.

In practice, this means installing your equipment and checking everything is running as it should be. Where necessary, we’ll resolve any issues.

  • Pre-delivery inspections
  • Component testing
  • Functional testing
  • Industrial commissioning tests
  • Environmental checks
  • Volume testing
  • Cable resistance checks
  • LEV testing
  • Temperature mapping
  • Load bank testing
  • Sound level readings
  • Pressure testing ductwork/pipework
  • Equipment installation and set-up
  • Troubleshooting/bug fixing
  • Component testing
  • Certification
  • Cleanroom C&Q
  • PUWER assessment
  • CE marking
  •

Verification

Once we have confirmed the mechanics of the installation are operating as expected, we will verify the installation based on your specific requirements and critical success factors. These vary based on the individual project KPIs but can include:

  • Performance testing
  • Uptime
  • Production run time
  • Availability
  • Acceptance criteria

We will carry out a detailed risk assessment, identifying health and safety hazards such as trapping, crushing, electrical shock, hazards from dust or fumes, noise and vibration.

puwer assessment

PUWER assessment

We work under Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), which relate to the operation and control of work equipment.

PUWER requires that equipment provided for use in a workplace is suitable and safe to use, as well as being installed and maintained correctly.

When you work with us, you can be sure that all testing, commissioning and verification undertaken complies with PUWER regulations.

Our PUWER assessors can also carry out your required ongoing PUWER inspections, including establishing your asset register, PUWER requirements and planning your PUWER inspection calendar. You have complete reassurance that all of your equipment is correctly inspected with appropriate documentation in the instance of any inspection.

CE Marking

Peace of mind that your machinery is safe for use and compliant with legal requirements, we provide a full CE marking service.

Whether an individual machine or a full assembly line, all new and second-hand machinery within production environments within the EU must hold a CE mark. This is visible evidence that the equipment is conformant to all legal requirements for its particular processing environment.

CE Marking requirements differ by production environment. In all instances the physical safety of those operating the equipment is included. Means of control, fixed guards, lighting, electrical hazards, safeguards, noise, vibration, radiation, dust emission, maintenance and documentation are all part of the Essential Health & Safety Requirements (EHSRs). Specific CE marking requirements to protect the consumer can also be found in sectors such as pharmaceutical and food, where the machinery may impact the safety of the ingredients and materials included in the final product.

We can also undertake CE marking for existing plant and machinery with our skilled engineers able to implement necessary repairs, re-designs or new system installations where required.

Our CE Marking services cover the following requirements:

  • Designing and building for safety
  • Assessing product conformity
  • Demonstrating product compliance
  • Providing users with relevant information
  • CE marking for existing machinery
  • Declaration of Conformity Preparation
  • On-site CE testing
  • EMC, LVD and Machinery Directive compliance
