Power & Nuclear
Solid, safe engineering project management for the nuclear and power sectors.
The nuclear and power sectors are highly regulated with unique technology and equipment. Our practiced, SQEP plant design engineers bring the necessary safety-first approach to these industries, with a strong understanding of the regulatory, safety and quality frameworks within power and nuclear. Experienced CDM duty holders and frequently operating at both Principal Contractor and Principal Designer level of responsibility, we can help with CAPEX and OPEX projects at every stage of the plant life cycle.
This ventilation system was for new block and bleed gas valves for a boiler. Designed to meet ATEX legislation, the system had to remove any threat of gas leakage resulting in explosive atmosphere conditions. Completed on-time and on-budget in strict site conditions and during scheduled outage works.

This design and build HVAC project included new duty and standby ventilation fans, along with improved access and distribution ductwork for improved pressure loss. A gas dispersal duct system around the turbine was also redesigned. Working in both clean room and explosive atmosphere conditions this was a complex design and installation.
A front-loaded approach to analysis and design for seamless construction and installation from our plant design engineers.
Our vertical start-up approach means we spend critical time analysing and understanding the challenge to be solved. This thorough approach ensures that project aims are aligned with final delivery from day one, removing last-minute changes or delays to the job. Well-defined success criteria mean options for progression are assessed comprehensively and costs/time overruns are reduced.
We have the ability to mobilise our multi-discipline engineering teams quickly, either working remotely or directly onsite. Dedicated points of contact mean that your project team and stakeholders have a reliable and familiar face to deliver answers and progress updates.
We always aim to reduce downtime, planning works during scheduled outages where necessary and our time on site is always led by safety first, satisfying all HSE and regulatory bodies e.g. ONR requirements.
They helped us out with a complex job. Always quick to offer resources whenever help is needed, FEG have a diverse set of in-house engineering skills.
Repeated cracked ductwork had required multiple replacements at this nuclear research site. A root-cause analytical approach by our team, including vibration analysis, uncovered excessive vibration due to incorrect ductwork specification. Our solution included new specifications and installations of ductwork that solved the problem long-term.
