Problem:
This McVities site had applied for AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) accreditation and part of that accreditation was “Reinforce Safety and Security”. The factory’s perimeter fence was identified as being in poor condition and in need of redesign and renewal.
Approach:
This was a significant undertaking as the boundary extended to some 2000 linear metres. Several unused buildings were placed along the perimeter, many of which were deemed unsafe and in need of demolition.
The project involved also the renewal of the main gate security lodge which presented a unique set of problems as the lodge was the central hub for security and fire alarms, CCTV and IT servers via fibre optic cables.
Outcome:
FEG’s onsite project team was involved with the AEO accreditation project as a whole and the perimeter boundary security in particular. Significant funds were made available to FEG by the client and both aspects of the project were delivered perfectly, on-time and on budget.
