mcvities flood recovery project

Production site closed due to flooding needed quick recovery

A serious flood occurred in Carlisle in 2015 which had left the McVitie’s facility under 1 metre of water in places. Damage to electrical equipment and ovens had severely affected production of the well-known brand of biscuits with the temporary closure of the facility.

Over 300 people managed daily to get facility back up and running

FEG Ltd were appointed as Principal Contractor to get the facility back up and running at the earliest opportunity.

Using our dedicated and experienced team, we managed the project which involved removing damaged equipment, refurbishing and reinstalling it and organising over 300 people each day to all work together to restart production.

Full production achieved within 6 months

We were able to achieve Practical Completion ahead of schedule meaning our client could get back to their business of making biscuits earlier than expected. Appointing FEG with its expertise in food projects and CDM Regulations meant that full production was achieved within 6 months of the initial flooding.
