2 Sisters factory extension required to increase production capability

There was a need to extend the plant to increase production capability, improve workflow, increase storage and segregation. The new facility would enable the commercial team to undertake additional tonnage and variety in production, without compromising current operations.

A £6.5m overhaul of the food production area

Initially, we provided Project Management support for the feasibility work, before 2 Sisters appointed us as Principal Contractor for the £6.5m project, which involved converting a warehouse into a high care food production area and incorporating it into the main factory.

The project involved extensive site services, chilled storage, blast freezing, hygienic flooring and drainage, changing rooms, and main production hall, along with a new production line. We assigned four key senior FEG engineers worked on this project, maintaining a permanent presence on-site throughout.

Production capacity increased to meet current growth forecasts

Following completion, production capacity has increased to meet current growth forecasts in phase 1 and the site has been enabled for subsequent phases which are ‘stand-alone’ to meet the business needs as they develop. The client can now take advantage of increased tonnage and number of SKUs and the improved workflow gives foundation for future efficiency projects.
